Naik informed that though the task of finalizing the candidates for four ZP seats, including the two seats of Curtorim and Nuvem in Salcete, has been left to the respective party MLAs, the party will issue the required forms to the Returning Officers on Monday in favour of party candidates.
"I do not want to comment on why the Congress party did not contest the 2015 ZP election on the party banner. As far as I am concerned, I was always in favour of contesting the local ZP elections on the party banner. And, since there's a consensus in the party, both amongst the MLAs and the organization in favour of contesting the by-poll on the party, we have decided to go ahead and field candidates on the party symbol", Naik said.
