A visibly annoyed Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Friday said several construction-related files had been pending for approval before the Navy and added that he would take up the matter with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and TCP Minister Vishwajeet Rane.

Salkar was speaking to reporters after offering prayers during the Vardhapan Diwas of Khapreshwar Temple in Baina.

“Construction activity in Vasco constituency has almost come to a standstill as many construction-related files have to be placed before the Navy for their NOC and approval,” said Salkar.

“It is sad that this issue is prevalent for a very long time and has now been affecting the lives of the common man in Vasco. I had raised the issue in the assembly and had even got an assurance from CM Pramod Sawant and TCP Minister Vishwajeet Rane that the issue would be resolved.”

“The common man who has invested all his earnings to buy a plot and build his house is trapped in this issue of Naval NOC and many a times, some people even sell their gold or take loan to build their own house.”

Salkar said he had spoken to the CM and TCP Minister to take up this issue at the central level and resolve it because the common man is paying a huge interest on housing loans for no fault of his.

“The Navy has got its own laws and disturbs the entire scenario and there is not a single construction activity going on in Vasco city because files are pending for Naval NOC. I will take up the issue yet again with the CM and TCP Minister and I have faith that the Naval NOC issue will soon be resolved,” said Salkar.
