The construction of a flood protection wall has begun in Marsorde, a suburb of Valpoi municipality, with a budget of Rs 1 crore. The wall is being built to protect the area from flooding during the monsoon season.
The area was previously prone to flooding, and the construction of the wall has been a long-standing demand of the local residents. The wall is being built by the Water Resources Department (WRD) and is expected to provide relief to the residents of Marsorde and surrounding areas.
Local councillor Prasanna Gawas and Vinod Haldanker have been pursuing the matter with the authorities, and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane approved funds for the project.
The project also includes the widening of the road, which will improve traffic flow and provide better connectivity to the residents.
The residents hope the work will be completed as soon as possible. The construction of the wall is expected to be completed before the monsoon season, and it is expected to bring relief to the residents of Marsorde and surrounding areas.
