Construction of WTP begins at Canacona

Work on the long-pending 5 MLD Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at Gaunem-Gaondongrim in Canacona on Thursday.

Minister for Drinking Water and Social Welfare Subhash Phal Desai laid the foundation stone for construction of the Rs 38 crore project in the presence of Sports Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, along with senior officials, including Chief Engineer (DDW) Vishwamber Bhende, Superintendent Engineer Narayan Tivrekar, and Executive Engineer Devidas Borkar.

“This important project will significantly strengthen water infrastructure and ensure a reliable supply of clean drinking water,” stated Minister Subhash Phal Desai.

Phaldesai further said this initiative reflects the vision of Tawadkar, who has consistently worked towards providing a sustainable and sufficient water supply to every village in the constituency.

In his address, Tawadkar said the project will directly benefit the villages of Gaondongrim, Khotigao, and Poinguinim, ensuring that residents henceforth will receive adequate and regular water supply.

Poinguinim ZP member Ajit (Ajay) Lolyenkar, Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar, Khotigao Sarpanch Jayesh J Gaonkar, Canacona AE Sandeep Pagi, junior engineers, and several local residents were present on the occasion.
