Saligao MLA and Goa Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Kedar Naik stated that the power substation at Pilerne is almost complete and it will be commissioned by May.

“Once this power substation is commissioned, the problem of frequent power disruptions being faced by residents of Reis Magos, Pilerne and Nerul will be resolved,” said Naik.

He was speaking at Ramnagar-Betim after launch work by the WRD to construct a 400-mtr-long Nullah at a cost of Rs 1 crore in the presence of the Reis Magos Dy Sarpanch Shruti Chodankar, panch member Subhash Pednekar, Prasanna Nagvekar, Sangita Bhonsale, former ZP member Sandeep Bandodkar and locals.

Naik further mentioned that during monsoon, rainwater from the nearby hillock would flow down and enter the residential area of Ramnagar-Betim.

“There was a persistent demand from residents for a culvert so that water does not flow down the Nullah. I had raised this matter in the legislative assembly several times,” said Naik.

“Since the cost involved was exceeding Rs 1 crore, the proposal was not being cleared by finance department and it got cleared only after consistent follow up, thereby fulfilling the long-pending demand of residents of Ramnagar“Betim.”

Reis Magos Deputy Sarpanch Shruti Chodankar and panch member Subhash Pednekar also spoke on the occasion.
