GPCC alleges Rs 2,147 crore scam in TCP department; demands probe

PANAJI: GPCC President Girish Chodankar has alleged a Rs 2,147 crore revenue loss in the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department, claiming that additional floor area of 10.73 lakh sq m was granted in 321 commercial cases.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Chodankar alleged that TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and senior officials were involved in the alleged irregularities and claimed that at least Rs 1,000 crore was being “looted”.

Chodankar said the alleged revenue loss stemmed from the allocation of additional FAR. “Floor Area Ratio (FAR) and height concessions of up to 20% were granted for commercial projects, with 10,73,559 sq mt of additional floor area permitted across 321 cases. A subsequent government notification removed the 20% limit,” said Chodankar

He said Congress would file a formal complaint and pursue the matter before all appropriate forums, demanding strict action against those responsible.

Chodankar also said that if Congress forms the government, it will implement the Regional Plan 2028 within one year.
