NH-17 & NH-4A alignment

PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Friday said the government has extended the deadline to the consultant to submit the Detailed Project Report (DPR) on the alignment of the NH-17 and NH-4A to February 15.
He told the media that the government would hold consultations with the ministers and the local MLAs on the DPR concerning the proposed alignment and suggest changes to the Highway alignment before forwarding the report to the Centre for concretisation of the national highway, around 250 kms, passing through Goa. “The consultant was supposed to submit the DPR by January 30, but the government has extended the deadline to February 15 to complete the survey and the DPR. Once the report is received by the government, the same will be discussed with the MLAs and ministers before taking a final call," he said.
Replying to a question, Dhavalikar said the government had opted to rope in a consultant to prepare the DPR in respect of the alignment due to strong objections raised by the citizens to the alignment proposed around half a decade ago.
To another question, Dhavalikar said that the required funds will be made available by the Centre for the construction of the NH-17, NH-B, NH-4A under the coastal highway project.
