The Western Zone Review Conference of the Controller General of Communication Accounts (CGCA), Department of Telecommunications, began in Goa on Monday. The two-day meet brings together senior officers from CGCA, DoT headquarters and CCA offices in Maharashtra & Goa, Mumbai, Rajasthan and Gujarat to review performance and share best practices.
The meeting was presided over virtually by Vandana Gupta, CGCA, and chaired by Sanjay Kumar Bariar, Principal CCA, Western Zone. Bariar said the zone contributed about Rs 6,000 crore last year through licence fees and spectrum charges, and disbursed nearly Rs 5,000 crore in pensions to DoT and BSNL/MTNL pensioners.
In her keynote address, Gupta called for greater efficiency and accountability in pension payments and grievance redressal. She urged CCA heads to improve licence fee collections and praised the zone for achieving zero pendency in assessments.
Dr Satish Chandra Jha highlighted Maharashtra & Goa’s feat of generating 25,000 electronic Pension Payment Orders, allowing pensioners easy access through the SAMPANN portal. The conference will also review revenue, pensions, Digital Bharat Nidhi and internal audit to strengthen service delivery.
