CANACONA
A cop has been accused of attempting to kidnap his elderly neighbour from a village in Canacona on Sunday and a man, who claims to have foiled the attempted kidnap of his father, has now filed a complaint with the Canacona police and deputy collector.
In his statement, the complainant said he had noticed his elderly father walking along with someone about 300 mtrs from their house.
Surprised on seeing his aged father being taken away by someone, the complainant stopped and sought to know where his father was being taken.
The person informed the complainant that his neighbour, who is a cop, had instructed him to bring his father to him (cop), but could not state where exactly he was taking his father.
After filing a complaint at the Canacona police station, the complainant told reporters that he had confronted the cop regarding the attempted kidnap of his father, but said the cop fled from the site.
“My father cannot hear and speak properly, while he cannot walk without the help of a stick or help from someone. My mother is deceased and that, my father lives with me as all three sons are married and live separately in different houses with their wives and children,” said the complainant.
The complainant further informed that the cop lives in the neighbourhood and both families do not share a good relationship with each other.
“Under these circumstances and situation, a person who is not well-connected with us and takes my father without informing anyone in the house, amounts to kidnapping,” stated the complainant, who has demanded action against the cop.
