MARGAO
Two days after the tragic death of a labourer from Bihar due to electrocution, a preliminary survey conducted by the Margao Municipal Council has reportedly revealed that of the nine advertising boards erected near the spot, only two boards had permission from the civic body to display the boards.
The 32-year-old labourer was electrocuted to death after he came in contact with an iron panel where a number of advertising boards were located. Inquiries later revealed that the traders who had erected the advertising boards had taken the power connections to the boards with wires from their establishments.
An MMC team on Monday descended on the spot to find out whether the advertising boards had any permissions. The inquiry is believed to have revealed that most of the boards had no permissions.
The MMC team had drawn up plans to raze down the boards but were advised against taking action since the police and power department is probing into the electrocution incident.
