The Goa Police on Thursday evening suspended Police Constable Vijay Naik attached to Mapusa Police Station, in connection with the recent Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) drugs raid debacle in Arambol.
SP North Chandan Choudhary issued the order suspending the police constable for not following procedures while assigning duty staff.
It may be recalled a NCB team had solicited the help of Mapusa Police to conduct a drug raid in North Goa.
Police Constable Vijay Naik, who was the duty officer on the day, assigned four police constables, including one woman PC, to the NCB team.
The suspended PC has been asked to report to the North District Reserve Line Force.
Sources disclosed that more police officials are likely to be suspended in the case.
It may be recalled that NCB Goa Zone SP Ranjan along with the local (Mapusa) police had conducted a narcotic raid on a shack at Arambol on October 7.
SP Ranjan had to fire in air after the raiding party was allegedly attacked by a
group of people during the drug raid.
Following the incident, SP North Chandan Choudhary had ordered a probe since procedures had not been followed while seeking assistance of local police in the Arambol raid.
