Cops grounded for accepting air tickets from history-sheeter

Show-cause notices to then Anjuna PI Paresh Naik and three PSIs

PANAJI
Taking cognizance of a serious violation of procedures, Superintendent of Police (North) Chandan Chowdhary has issued a show-cause notice to the then Police Inspector of Anjuna police station Paresh Naik for accepting air tickets from a history-sheeter Anil Jaisinghani, who claimed to be a relative of the complainant in a fake rape case.
The air tickets were offered to facilitate the investigating team in making a trip to Mumbai in the fake rape case booked at the behest of Jaissinghani.
SP (North) has also issued show-cause notices to the three policemen, who traveled to Mumbai. PI Paresh Naik and the three members of his investigating team, who traveled to Mumbai, have been asked to explain why they accepted the air tickets from a private party when the Goa Police Department reimburses official travel expenses.
It has since come to light that Jaisinghani hatched a criminal conspiracy along with his female employee and on February 11, 2016, lodged a false complaint of rape against a Mumbai-based businessman Kishor Keshwani at Anjuna police station.
Once the FIR was registered, Jaisinghani offered an air ticket to the investigating team to travel to Mumbai to arrest Kishor Keshwani. Then Anjuna PI Paresh Naik accepted the air tickets from Jaisinghani and sent PSI Mahesh Kerkar, Constable Tirtharaj Mhamal and Constable Suhas Joshi to Mumbai.
When the police team landed in Mumbai, Jaisinghani arranged a car to pick them up. However, to their horror, the team discovered that the vehicle was stolen. The car was apprehended by Mumbai Police, who booked the three Goa Police personnel in the car theft case.
Thereafter, Anjuna Police probe found that the rape case booked at the behest of Jaisinghani was fake and closed the matter. Anjuna police lodged a fresh case against 12 accused persons including Jaisinghani and his female employee who claimed to have been raped, for filing a false case against an innocent man.
