Ponda Police on Wednesday recovered 10 live cartridges of 12 gauge 17-mm cartridges BB pellets from the car of the accused Amogh Naik, who was arrested on charges of possessing charas worth Rs 20 lakh.
Police informed that after Naik was arrested, they conducted search of his father-in-law's house at Dhavali-Ponda on Tuesday night and found the live cartridges in the vehicle.
The cartridges were found in one yellow-coloured box and had no valid licence nor documents.
Speaking to The Goan, PSI Paresh Sinari said the accused was a habitual criminal and they are investigating the case further to ascertain his recent involvements in the crime.
A fresh offence was registered under Section 3 r/w 25 of Indian Arms Act 1959. The accused was arrested under Section 20 (b) (ii) (C) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The accused was caught at Borim while allegedly waiting for his customer to sell charas.
Police sources informed that he was recently acquitted in a murder case, but still has criminal records in other police stations. Ponda police is investigating the case.
