Cops spoil murder convicts’ bash

Seven murder convicts from Central Jail at Colvale were caught by a raiding team of the Crime Branch of Goa Police partying along with the jailor at the abandoned Fort Aguada jail on the evening of last Saturday.

Acting on information that some inmates were partying at the Aguada jail, Police Inspector (crime) Dattaguru Sawant, sub inspector (crime) Laxi Amonkar and PSI Mahesh Naik attached with Calangute police raided the abandoned jail premises at Fort Aguada only to discover the jailor having a drink with the inmates.
In his defence, jailor Krishna Usgaonkar claimed that the group of inmates was deputed by an order at Aguada ‘to trim bamboo’ growing in the vicinity.
However, no documentary evidence has yet been produced by the jail authority to prove that they had the required permissions.
