“After the NIT has been moved to Cuncolim, the IIT land in Canacona is now being handed over to the promoters. Goa which was once a region where it was difficult to find primary teachers, will have two prestigious institutes in the State,” CM said.
In his reply to the general discussion on the budget, Parsekar had laid stress on the government schemes as well as the investments in infrastructure and the wooing of private investments into the State.
“There have been allegations that land have been sold for a higher price after it has been approved by the Investment Promotion Board. We are regularly monitoring the projects we approved and will have no difficulty in introducing a clause that the land cannot be sold once the project is approved,” Parsekar said adding that he was happy to note that a bulk of the investments in the State were by either Goans or people who have settled in Goa.
Parsekar also announced that the Margao District Hospital would be completed by the end of this year and the nursing institute to come up at the same premises would be ready before the next academic year.
He accused the opposition of playing to the gallery saying that in election season, it was a fashion to speak negatively because that gets you more publicity. Speaking on issue of public finances, CM sought to reassure the members that Goa’s borrowings were well within the limits set by the Centre and the RBI.
