Corner stones laid for works in St Andre

OLD GOA

St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar laid foundation stones for multiple works in the constituency just before the election code of conduct could come into effect.

Among the works for which the cornerstones were laid on Saturday included replacement of water pipeline at Siridao, hotmixing of road at Goa Velha, and reinstatement cum hotmixing of road at Agassaim.

Speaking to reporters after laying the cornerstones, MLA Borkar informed that these three works were very important and needed to be completed before the onset of rains. “The replacement of the water pipeline at Siridao was very important as the people of Modlo Vaddo and Jezu Nazareth Vaddo were facing water shortage. And this pipeline will be replaced after 40 long years at a cost of Rs 2.45 crore,” Borkar said while adding that once the work is completed, the water shortage issue will be resolved.

The other works for which cornerstones were laid included the hot-mixing of road at Forgotten-Goa Velha for which it would cost Rs 51 lakh.

Speaking on the third work of reinstatement and hotmixing of the road at Dandi-Agassaim, MLA Borkar informed that a portion of the road was dug for laying underground power cables.

“So, now the dug portion would be reinstated, and hotmixing of 3-meter wide road will be taken up. The total cost will be around Rs 32 lakh,” Borkar added.
