MARGAO
The Margao Municipal Council has finally decided to appoint retired employees to undertake the job of endorsing corrections in the live birth registers.
The Standing panel of the civic body has also given its ex-post facto approval for the service provider who was appointed by the Council for the collection of Municipal solid waste at all the 21 Ganeshotsav mandals
located within the Municipal jurisdiction from
September 19-25.
At the standing committee meeting chaired by the Municipal chairperson, the panel discussed about the cases pending over the years of endorsements of corrections made in respect of the birth documents.
The Goan had a month ago highlighted how the Municipality has ignored making the endorsements in the live birth register in respect of the corrections made in the birth documents. In fact, while the Margao Municipality routinely carry out the correction in the birth documents, the same is not reflected in the live birth registers till date.
After much discussions, the Chairperson said the Council will employ two retired staffers, who were familiar with the exercise of making endorsements in the live birth register.
“The Standing Committee panel has agree to pay emoluments to the retired staffers for the work carried out in respect of the endorsements,” she added.
The Standing panel also gave its nod to grant ex-post facto approval for the Council’s decision to engage a service provider to collect waste from the Ganesh
mandals.
“We have taken up this matter at the Standing committee meeting since there was hardly any time to place the proposal before the Council meeting on the eve of the Ganesh festivities,” Babita maintained, while stating that the Council had invited the Expression of Interest before shortlisting the party to carry out the work of collecting
solid waste from the 21
Ganesh mandals.
