Cortalim Farmers Club on Saturday offered free harvesting and other farming-related machinery to the Pale Tollem Xetkar Association (PTXA), a body of 135 traditional farmers in Velsao.
Speaking to reporters, PTXA President Roquezinho D’Souza thanked the Cortalim Farmers Club for having helped the traditional farmers of Velsao on various occasions and keeping them motivated towards farming activity.
“The Cortalim Farmers Club has immediately responded to our requests and provided us the machinery to cut the crop as labourers are not available. These machines are provided to us free of cost, twice a year for Kharif and Rabi crops and this has actually encouraged the people not to give up on farming,” said D’Souza.
“In fact, many people in Arossim, Velsao and Cansaulim have now begun to grow crops and the number of farmers along the Velsao belt is rising,” said D’Souza.
