Counting of votes begins for 2 parliamentary constituencies in Goa

PANAJI: The counting of votes for the two Lok Sabha seats -North and South began this morning at 8 am, with the ruling BJP facing the United opposition led by Congress. 


Early trend in North Goa shows BJP’s Shripad Naik leading against Congress's Ramakant Khalap. 


Similarly, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is currently leading in 167 of the 543 parliamentary constituencies.


Heavy rains dampens the spirit of supporters at the South Goa counting centre. The postal ballot counting has just ended in South and EVMs are been taken up for counting


Polling for Goa's North and South Goa seats took place on May 7. North Goa recorded a voter turnout of 76.34%, while South Goa saw a 73% turnout. Eight candidates contested each seat.


Vote counting for the North Goa seat is being conducted at the Government Polytechnic College in Panaji, and for the South Goa seat at Damodar College in Margao. The BJP has held power in Goa since 2012.
