Couple arrested for selling unauthorised medicines

Bicholim Police on Wednesday arrested a couple from Chembur-Maharashtra on charges of selling medicines without permits at Bicholim bus stand. The police also attached a minibus,

which was used to carry out their alleged business.According to Bicholim Police, some locals complained that the couple was selling ayurvedic medicines with the help of a minibus in the middle of the new and old Bicholim bridge road. The locals also complained that medicines were sold in dirty plastic bags.Acting on the complaint, police visited the site and arrested Bijendra Banu Singh and his wife Sheelabai Bijendra Singh under Section 34 of Indian Police Act.When contacted, PI Narayan Chimulkar said the accused did not have valid permissions to sell the medicines. HC Santosh Gawade is investigating the case under the guidance of PI Narayan Chimulkar and DySP Ramesh Gaonkar.
