Couple booked for assault

MAPUSA: Mapusa Police registered an offence of assault and criminal intimidation against a husband-wife duo in Bastora on Thursday evening.

According to the complainant Darshan Gaekwad, his wife Darshana and son Rajesh, both from Chandanwadi-Bastora, were attacked by Hema and her husband, Naresh Halarnkar with wooden sticks while they went to feed their pet dog at around 5.45 pm.

After receiving a call, Mapusa Police rushed to the spot and moved the injured to the North Goa District Hospital.

Based on the complaint, an offence was registered against the husband-wife duo under Sections 504, 324, 506, 509, 354, 354 A of the IPC, but no arrest has been made so far.

Meanwhile, Naresh Halarnkar has filed a cross complaint against the complainant’s wife and son that they verbally abused and beat him up. PSI Kiran Naik is investigating the case.

St Cruz woman missing AGASSAIM: A government employee from Bandh in St Cruz has been reported missing since Wednesday, while her parents suspect the involvement of a relative in the case.
