Valpoi police has booked a case against a couple from Honda-Sattari on charges of cheating a woman to the tune of Rs 26 lakh after assuring to sell her a flat.
In her complaint, Rupali Parwar from Morlem informed Valpoi police that the two accused Vidisha Gawde and her husband, Vijayanath, had promised to sell her a flat for Rs 26 lakh in 2021-22.
Accordingly, the complainant is reported to have handed over a cash amount of Rs 23.5 lakh to Vidisha and Vijayanath, while the remaining Rs 2.5 lakh was deposited in the bank account of the accused.
Two years passed and the accused did not hand over the flat to Parwar. Parwar claimed she had contacted them a number of times, but accused the couple of giving vague answers.
Parwar then filed a complaint in this connection. Valpoi PI Videsh Shirodkar said the police took note of the complaint and booked offences against Vidisha and her husband, Vijayanath.
According to PI Shirodkar, two cases of fraud have earlier been registered against the two suspects at other police stations in the State and this is the third such case.
