Chandrashekhar Anand (30) and his wife Pinki Kumari (29) sustained serious injuries after their Mahindra car (HR-29-AP-9787) crashed into a pole near the divider at the Porascade-Naibag junction in Pernem around 5 pm on Saturday.
According to information from the Pernem police, the couple, along with their family, was travelling to Banda via Pernem when the accident occurred. The car reportedly lost control and hit the pole near the divider. Chandrashekhar suffered grievous injuries, while Pinki sustained injuries to both legs.
The injured were first taken to Tuem Hospital and later shifted to the Mapusa District Hospital for further treatment.
There were four people in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely crushed. Anand and his wife were trapped inside. Pernem Fire Station Officer Namdev Parwar and his team rushed to the spot, rescued those trapped in the vehicle, and sent them for medical treatment.
