Court remands 3 accused in investment fraud case

Court remands 3 accused in investment fraud case

MARGAO

Even as the court has remanded all the three accused in the alleged Rs 9.5 crore investment fraud by an investment company, the lawyer for two of the accused persons, Adv Amay Prabhudesai has expressed his displeasure that his two clients have been arrested when they had helped the Economic Offences Cell to nab the main accused Gohil, a native of Gujarat.

The EOC has arrested the four accused in the alleged investment fraud, including the accused from Gujarat.

Adv Amay Prabhudesai said he and his two clients, including a lady, who have been arrested by the EOC, had helped the police to get to the main accused from Gujarat. He even claimed that he and his clients had arranged the trip for the police to Gujarat to get the main accused.

He added: “We had arranged flights for the police to bring the accused back to Goa. Since it was a costly affair, I travelled home by train. I did not expect the police to arrest the two persons, including the lady after we all helped them by giving them the lead in the case,” he said.

Adv Amay reminded that neither the Margao police nor the EOC was initially ready to register an FIR in the cases, adding that only after he and the staff along with clients addressed the media, that there was a change of heart amongst the men-in-uniform.

He, however, said since the police has now arrested his two clients, who had helped them in the case, bail applications have been filed in the court, citing all the facts of the case.

“We have moved for bail and we expect the matter to take its course in the court,” he added.
