Covid deaths spiral, nine more succumb

The spike in Covid-related deaths continues in the State with the Health Department recording nine more deaths. The total death toll as per official count stands at 351. 

The department also recorded 407 new cases of the infection taking the active tally to 5,781. The total confirmed number of cases so far is 28,429 of whom 22,297. 

As per the mortality bulletin released unofficially by the Health Department, the deceased people include a 49 year-old man from Chorao and a 58 year-old woman from Chandor, a 56 year-old man from Mandur in Azossim, a 62 year-old man form Agacaim, a 65 year-old old man from Vasco, 51 year-old man from Assolda in Quepem, a 73 year-old man from Valpoi, a 68 year-old man from Tivim and an 86 year-old woman from Khareband. 

With the exception of two, all deceased persons suffered from co-morbid conditions. Two of the eight deceased persons passed away within 10 hours of admission at the hospital. 

While eight deaths occurred at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim, one was recorded at ESI Covid Hospital in Margao.
