Two more schools in North Goa, one in Cujira and the other in Usgao, shut classes after a member each of their teaching staff tested positive earlier in this week.
The developments forced education authorities to put their move to restart classes for students of grades IX and XI on hold indefinitely.
Meanwhile, a higher secondary school in Curchorem has suspended physical classes for Std 12 science after one Std 12 science student tested positive for the virus and has resumed online classes till further directions.
The principal told media persons that the school has been following all SOPs ever since physical classes were started after the lockdown.
“Forty-five students have been enrolled in the science stream for this academic year. As part of the SOPs, they were divided in three batches for physical classes and all classes were conducted in the morning. The student who tested positive was one of these 45 students,” said the principal.
The principal sought to clarify that only Std 12 science classes were suspended following the detection of the Covid case.
“Physical classes for other streams are being conducted in the afternoon session and there was no contact among students of the different streams.”
