At 36.26 % covid positivity rate of the State continued to be on the decline for the second consecutive day after shooting beyond 50 % in the last week. It stood at 35.16 % on Thursday. The number of cured cases 2,960 also outnumbered the new covid cases count of 2,455. With 61 more deaths the active covid count of the state now stands at 32,387.

CANACONA: One person succumbed to Covid-related complications, while 66 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the number of active cases to 678 in the taluka.
Meanwhile, a large number of people turned up for vaccination at special camps conducted in Loliem-Polem, Poinguinim and Gaondongrim villages.
The vaccination drive will continue on Saturday and will be conducted simultaneously at the GHS Shristhal, GHS Gaondongrim and the panchayat building at Cotigao.
On May 17 and 18, the vaccination of the 45-plus age group will be taken up at the GHS Agonda and Gurukul High School (Kajumol) and GHS Cola from 9 am onwards.
