The ongoing battle with Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant had thrown up questions whether the HM will face the axe. There were, however, others who insisted that Amit Shah would come to the HM’s rescue. Sources say Amit Shah reportedly told BJP chief Nada to sort out issues between the CM and HM. During the IIT agitation too, the Health Minister had pulled the right stings in Delhi before writing a letter to the CM to scrap the IIT at Melauli. Any takers?

When Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant walked into the South district hospital earlier this week, one question that must have been on everyone’s mind was “ where’s the Health Minister? The CM’s visit sans the HM in tow indeed raised eyebrows amongst the healthcare workers and the men-in-uniform alike. A doctor by profession, it may not take much time for Pramodbab to get a hang of the Health portfolio. What, however, remains to be seen is how the CM manages the political equation with the HM. Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai’s suggestion to Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant to strip the Health Minister of his portfolio indeed made reading interesting as he even reminded that stripping a Cabinet colleague of his portfolio remains the Chief Minster’s prerogative. None other than Vijaibab knows better over the Chief Minister’s powers, more so after Pramodbab had axed him and his two Goa Forward colleagues from his cabinet two years ago. By the way, observers are trying to figure out whether the Goa Forward chief was really in favour of the Health Minister’s ouster or was he trying to fish in troubled waters. Wait and watch.
When MLAs stood by CM against HM
In the battle between the Chief Minister and the Health Minister, most of the Congress-turned-BJP MLAs in the saffron brigade seemed to have all stood by Pramodbab Sawant. The Sultan of Taleigao seemed not the only MLA, who rallied behind the CM. If sources are to be believed, many a neo-saffronite, including the MLAs from Saxttidom, came out in support of the Chief Minister in the battle with the Health Minister. In the past too, these Congress-turned-BJP MLAs had sounded critical of the Health Minister for denying jobs in the Health department.
Politicos extend Eid wishes through social media
With Covid lockdown in force, Saxtti politicos took to the social media to extend Eid wishes to their Muslim brethren on Friday. It’s not uncommon to find politicians of all hues from Saxttidom hopping from one house to another to wish people on the auspicious occasion. Muslim voters have been steadily emerging as a force to reckon with in almost all the Saxtti Assembly constituencies, including Margao, Fatorda, Navelim, Curtorim and Cuncolim, which no political party or politician can afford to ignore.
