MARGAO
Six inmates of the Old Age Home, Margao, have tested positive for coronavirus and have been isolated.

Following the development, the elderly citizens as well as the staff manning the government-run Old Age Home were subjected to Covid tests on Friday and Saturday.

Margao Urban Health Officer Dr Anju Kharangate informed that a total of six inmates of the old age centre tested positive for coronavirus.

“As a precautionary measure, the UHC has tested around 53 persons. While six out of the 40 tests conducted on Friday tested positive for Covid, we are awaiting the results of the tests conducted on the eight staff and 13 inmates on Saturday,” Dr Anju said.

To a question, she said the six Covid patients have been isolated inside the Old Age Home, adding that their condition does not require their hospitalization for the moment.
