The number of Covid-19 cases continued to witness an upward trend with more than 40 persons testing positive to the virus in Bardez on Sunday.
A big chunk of 25 persons who tested positive were from Candolim primary health centre area and 13 in the vicinity of the Mapusa urban health eentre.
Health Officer at Candolim PHC, Dr Roshan Nazareth informed that eight persons tested positive in Reis Magos, six in Candolim, five in Saligao, four in Pilerne and two in Sangolda.
According to the Directorate of Health Services bulletin, there are 70 active positive cases in Candolim PHC.
Mapusa Urban Health Centre reported 13 positive cases “ Dangui Colony (5), Carrasvaddo (3), Mapusa town (3) and one each in Ansabhat and Peddem. “We are getting quite a number of positive cases that are spread out all over. Most of them are contacts of previous positive persons,” said Dr Cheril de Souza, Health Officer at Mapusa Urban Health Centre.
The total active positive cases in Mapusa stood at 156 on Sunday.
Health Officer at Colvale primary health centre, Dr Damodar Narvenkar informed that three persons tested positive in his jurisdiction “ Assonora (1), Colvale (1) and Sirsaim (1).
Similarly, Siolim primary health centre reported three positive cases “ Siolim-Marna (1), Siolim-Sodiem (1) and Verla-Canca (1).
A health officer informed that the number of cases were few as routine tests were not carried out on Sundays. “Due to staff constraint, only emergency and symptomatic persons are tested on Sundays,” the health officer informed.
