CANACONA
Authorities in Canacona are relieved as the taluka recorded new cases in single digits on Sunday and Monday for the first time in almost two months.
While six new cases were detected from 20 Antigen tests on Sunday, only five new cases were detected from 82 antigen and RT-PCR tests. There were 160 active cases in Canacona as on Monday.
Since the second Covid wave hit the taluka in April and May, new cases began to surge as high as 104 on a single day on April 28.
But by mid-May, the new cases began to decline and reached barely single digits on Sunday and Monday.
Meanwhile, the vaccination drive for the 18-plus and others have been shifted from Shree Mallikarjun High School, Char-Rasta to Government Higher Secondary School, Mastimoll from Monday and is being carried out alongside normal vaccination for 45-plus category,” informed a source at the Canacona CHC.
