Covid-19 snuffs out lives of eight more, death toll now increases to 450

445 new positive cases recorded; active cases at 4,923

Eight more persons succumbed to Covid-19 in Goa raising the death toll to 450.

While four deaths occurred at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim, four were recorded at ESI Covid Hospital in Margao. Two of the patients died within 10 hours of being admitted at the hospital.

The deceased patients include a 45-year-old man from Bicholim, a 57-year-old woman from Curtorim, a 60-year-old man from Navelim, a 70- year-old woman from Balli, a 74-year-old woman from Curchorem, a 80-year-old man from Margao, a 55-year-old from Taleigao and a 59-year-old from Taleigao.

Meanwhile, 445 new cases of the infection were detected in Goa in the last 24 hours taking the active total to 4,923.

Till date, a total of 34,900 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Goa of whom 25,977 have recovered. The recovery rate in Goa presently stands at 84.60 per cent.


27 new cases in Pernem

PERNEM: Twenty-seven new Covid cases were detected in Pernem, taking the overall count to 1,452 in the taluka.

The new cases were detected in Morjim (4), Parcem (3), Mandrem (3), Keri (1), Virnoda (2), Pernem town (12), Dhargal (1) and Ibrampur (1).

Over 1,200 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, while 15 succumbed to Covid.

Mopa is the worst affected panchayat with 210 cases, followed by Mandrem (178), Pernem town (132), Turm (103), Dhargal (90), Arambol (84), Korgao (76) and Parcem (62).
