Cow vigilantes from Goa on Tuesday threatened to agitate against the BJP government ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Cow vigilantes will start their protest by breaking pots fitted on top of the effigies of legislators who have supported beef eaters and criticised them in the Assembly session.
Addressing a press conference, President of Govansh Raksha Abhiyan Hanumant Parab criticised the government by asserting it had not kept the promise of protecting their sentiments for cow. “We will see that in both districts BJP candidates are defeated,” he stated. While BJP MLAs Nilesh Cabral, Michael Lobo, NCP MLA Churchill Alemao, Congress MLA Francis Silveira raised their voice in support of beef eaters, not a single BJP MLA rose to oppose them,” lamented Parab. He demanded that no bull slaughtering should take place in the State on the day of Bakri Id (August 22).
Parab said that Animal Husbandry Minister Mauvin Godinho accepted in the Assembly that there was no mechanism in place at Goa Meat Complex. So no slaughtering of bull should take place in the state until the meat complex is well equipped, he added.
Surprisingly, self-proclaimed State member of the banned organisation Shree Ram Sena Rama Doifode was also present at the briefing.
