PERNEM
Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar has assured that every panchayat in Pernem constituency would have one public crematorium during his five-year tenure as legislator.
“These crematoriums would be constructed with funds from the Zilla Panchayats, Panchayats and the State government,” said Arlekar who was addressing the public after inaugurating the renovated crematorium at Torse.
The event was attended by North Goa ZP Chairperson Siddhesh Naik, ZP member Seema Khadpe, Torse Sarpanch Prarthana Mote, Deputy Sarpanch Uttam Vir, panch members and others.
“A crematorium is a basic necessity of every village and everyone should cooperate in constructing one in each panchayat area so that in future, the public need not take to the streets to demand a crematorium.”
“Families of the departed souls should not face any hindrance in cremating the deceased, and the responsibility for this lies on the administration as well as the citizens,” said the MLA.
Arlekar also appealed to residents to take note of basic infrastructure facilities in their area and to bring it to his notice if facilities are missing or necessary. Prarthana Mote and Swati Toraskar also spoke on the occasion.
