A Crime Branch team led by SP Jivba Dalvi raided a premises in Vidyanagar Colony, Zuarinagar, on Saturday as part of an investigation into the suspected illegal storage of petroleum products.
During the raid, officials inspected a large compounded premises where five petroleum tankers were found parked inside. The tankers were allegedly kept within the enclosed compound in a manner that concealed them from public view, making them not visible from outside the property.
Sources said the raid was launched following specific inputs regarding the suspected unauthorised storage and handling of petroleum products at the location.
The Crime Branch team conducted a detailed inspection of the premises and began verifying documents related to the tankers, their ownership and the legality of the operations being carried out there.
Officials are also examining whether the required permissions and safety norms under the relevant laws governing the storage and transportation of petroleum products were in place.
The operation continued for several hours, with officers gathering evidence and recording relevant details as part of the investigation.
Crime Branch officials have not disclosed further information at this stage. The investigation is in progress, and authorities are expected to reveal more details after completing the verification process and examining the material collected during the raid.
