Nepali held for possessing drugs 
VASCO: Vasco Police on Friday arrested a 24-year-old Nepali on charges of possessing Ganja worth Rs 3 lakh.  
Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo informed that they received information from a reliable source that the accused, Vijay Rajbansi, who is presently residing at Dabolim, was involved in selling Ganja at Dabolim.  
PI Raposo said acting on the tip-off, he along with PSI Nehanda Tavares, head constable Sajit Pillai and other policemen rushed to the site and conducted a raid and caught Rajbansi red handed with 3 kgs of Ganja worth Rs 3 lakh.  
Police Inspector  Raposo added that offence was registered against Rajbansi, who was arrested under Section 20 (b), (ii) (B) of NDPS Act 1985.  
PI Raposo informed that further investigation is being carried out under the supervision of Mormugao DySP Laurence D’Souza and South Goa SP Chandan Choudary. 

HP native remanded in drugs case 
CANACONA :  Canacona police arrested a 24-year-old native of Palachahkotla-Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, on charges of possessing drugs worth Rs 60,000 at Patnem beach in the wee hours of Thursday.   
Acting on a tip-off, Canacona PSI Remedios D’Souza along with staff and two panchas conducted a raid at Patnem beach on Wednesday, but did not find anything.   
Later in an extensive search of Patnem beach area and surroundings, the police caught Rajender Singh, presently residing at Patnem, in possession of 302 grammes of suspected charas worth about Rs 60,000 at 1 am on Thursday, informed police.   
Police said the suspected drug was attached along with cash of Rs 2,940 and the accused’s Aadhar card was also confiscated.   
He was remanded to four days police custody.   
The attached substance has been submitted to the SP (South), Margao for onward submission for further examination and analysis to FDA, Bambolim.  

Firemen rescue  cow in Bicholim
BICHOLIM: Bicholim fire personnel rescued a cow from the rivulet near Shri Shantadurga High School circle Bicholim on Friday evening.  
According to Bicholim fire brigade sources, the fire personnel rushed to the site after getting information that a cow was trapped in a marshy area in Bicholim rivulet near Shantadurga High School circle.  Sources added that about eight firemen rescued the cow. Firemen Arjun Dhawaskar, Sanjay Fadte, Pravin Gaonkar, Anand Naik, Sudhakar Gaonkar, Ajay Gholkar and Bharat Naik rescued the cow under the guidance of fire fighter Rajan Parab.

Existing cattle shed unused, but Curchorem council wants new one

At a time when the existing cattle pound is lying unused in Curchorem town, the Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) has plans to set up a different cattle shed to impound stray cattle and this new project has evoked sharp reactions from the public.
