Criminal plaint against Adani, MPT chief, Cabral and CM

MARGAO
Anti-coal protesters on Friday lodged a criminal complaint again Adani Group, South West Ports Limited, Vedanta, MPT Chairman, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral and General Manager of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd Sahoo before leaving the district police headquarters.

The protesters also lodged a complaint against the police officer who registered the FIR against the six persons for participating in the Chandor midnight vigil and also demanded withdrawal of the same.

The protesters, who lodged the complaint, alleged that the actions of these persons are allegedly destroying the public health and the lives and livelihoods of all Goans and threatening the lives of all humans.

“We have filed a criminal complaint against all the persons involved in the coal handling and transportation, coal infrastructure projects and river nationalization. These projects are completely against the interests of all Goans, Indians and the entire humanity, since they threaten the world with deadly global warming, coal pollution and destruction of local economies, communities and environment. The coal they want to burn will kill all humanity due to global warming,” the complaint filed by Diana Tavares and others stated.

In another complaint addressed to the SP, South, Diana and others lodged a complaint against the police officer Shivram Vaingankar on behalf of the 8000-10000 persons present at Chandor on November 1-2 for having registered an FIR against the selected six persons with false reasons given as unlawful assembly and

wrongful restraint, though there were no crimes or violence and the entire event was peaceful.

“Though there was a crowd of 8000 to 10000 including representatives who protested peacefully at Chandor on 1-2 November night, registration of FIRs against these persons smacks of bias and misuse of the discretionary powers of the officials,” the complaint stated.
