Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) held a high-level meeting involving various agencies on the grounded naphtha tanker, Nu Shi-Nalini, according to sources.

They said the meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary.

Another meeting will be held in the MPT on Tuesday.

“The meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary. The Secretary Revenue, MPT officials, surveyors, Coast Guard, Navy, Collector, Barge operators, police and other administrative officials of Goa Government were present. The CS reviewed the present situation

and details were discussed on various plans that could be adopted on remedial measures.”

“The CS was briefed on the various plans and it was also decided to pump out the naphtha before any other operation like towing of the ship was to be considered. The CS later appealed to all departments to make concerted efforts to clear the ship, which was posing a threat to Goa’s coastline, as soon as possible,”

the sources said.

“The next meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) is likely to take a final call on the firm measures to be adopted to tow away the ship,” they added.
