PANAJI: The demolition of illegal structures erected in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms at Temwada, Morjim Beach continued on a war footing for the second consecutive day, with authorities extending the drive to properties linked to Dilip Morje.

According to officials, several of the structures demolished belonged to tenants (mundkars) who had allegedly expanded their residential houses by constructing additional rooms and converting them into hotels or guest houses. The action was initiated after the landowner filed complaints with the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority over the alleged illegal constructions.

Authorities have also begun demolishing a club, a stone compound wall and a house belonging to Dilip Morje. Morje is currently in police custody in connection with the alleged assault on a lawyer earlier this week.

Officials said Morje's ancestral house, originally measuring around 97 sq mt, was allegedly expanded and converted into an illegal three-storey guest house. Following a complaint by the landowner, the matter was taken up by the CRZ authorities before reaching the National Green Tribunal and later the High Court, which ordered the demolition of the unauthorised structure.

Meanwhile, Morje has filed a police complaint alleging that the lawyer deliberately ran over his daughter with a vehicle. According to the complaint, she suffered a fractured leg and is currently recovering at home.
