Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel has called for an investigation into the slab collapse and an explanation from the contractor over the incident.
In a written communiqué to the PWD, Goel also directed appointing an independent agency to ascertain the cause of the incident.
“The Principal Chief Engineer, PWD I hereby directed to investigate and submit a preliminary inquiry report regarding the collapse, to seek an explanation from the Contractor, and to appoint an independent agency viz, IIT-Roorkee or any other IIT/ NIT to ascertain the cause of the incident,” reads the note, which was circulated to the.

PWD meanwhile, issued a notice to Mumbai-based contractor M/s Techton Builders Pvt Ltd seeking a detailed explanation. The contractor has been directed to submit the report and to also obtain an independent report from IIT-Mumbai that carried out the structural stability by Tuesday.
In another late-night development, the government appointed IIT-Roorkee to carry out a detailed investigation and ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
