Govt excluded us despite support offer: Correa Foundation

PANAJI

Architect Arminio Ribeiro of the Charles Correa Foundation (CCF) has expressed disappointment over the incident but is not shocked by it. The expert criticized the government for excluding the CCF from the project despite their repeated offers of assistance.

“While I am saddened by what has happened, I am not shocked. We have consistently conveyed to the government our willingness to support them, but they chose to exclude us. Our intention was to make a positive contribution,” Rebeiro told The Goan.

He further raised concerns about the potential consequences if the structure had been opened for the G20, as initially planned by the government. “The building was meant to undergo thorough examination, receive a structural stability certification, and then be renovated.

However, this process was not conducted thoroughly. The collapse occurred at the very early stages of the project. One can only imagine if it had happened during the G20 meeting with numerous people in close proximity,” he added.
