CSC at Margao set to be commissioned after Diwali

MARGAO
The stage is finally set for the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Citizens Service Centre at the South Goa District Collectorate, with Revenue and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte telling The Goan on Thursday that the CSC at Margao will be inaugurated after Diwali.
"The Citizens Service Centre at the South District Collectorate is all ready for inauguration. Most probably, it will be commissioned before the month-end, but after the Diwali festival," Rohan told The Goan on the sidelines of the inauguration of IT Knowledge Centre at the Nuvem village panchayat building.
The Revenue Minister said the CSC, manned by the Goa Electronics Ltd, is a world class centre, ready to dish out services for the citizens. "Initially, the Citizens Service Centres will dish out information and services pertaining to the Revenue department. Later on, services of other departments, including Excise, Tourism et al will be provided by the Citizens Service Centres," he said.
Replying to a question, Rohan pointed out that the CSC will not be given on contract to prospective parties, but hastened to add that plans are afoot to allot the centre as franchises. "Right now, the CSC at both North and South Goa will be manned by GEL. It will be only at a later stage that the government will think of giving these centres on franchise," he added.
The Revenue Minister further pointed out that the Citizens Service Centres will also become a reality in all the 12 taluka centres by year-end. "People in the taluka will be able to get services of most of the departments, including Revenue, at the CSC counters," he added.
Meanwhile, the Revenue Minister said that the Saturday courts have been set up in South Goa as well and would take up tenancy cases no sooner the cases come from the courts. "It's not in my hand if the cases have still not come back to the Mamlatdar offices. But, one thing is certain that we are ready with the Saturday courts which will clear the cases in a time bound manner as per the Amendment," Rohan said.
