Cuncolim police bust scooter thefts case, recover stolen property

The Cuncolim Police have busted a gang of three youngsters from the Cuncolim IDC for committing theft of scooters and have recovered stolen property worth Rs 3.20 lakh.

The police also arrested the receiver of stolen property.

The gang fell into the police dragnet on August 26 during routine night patrolling when they apprehended two boys, aged 23 and 19 years while moving suspiciously with a black coloured Aviator scooter in the wee hours. As the duo could not justify their movement and produce the ownership details of the scooter found in their possession they were placed under arrest u/s 41 CrPC.

During interrogations, the duo disclosed that they had stolen the black Aviator scooter from Margao area.  Upon further investigations, they said they had committed theft of two scooters - Fascino and Activa - each from Assolna and Velim area. They also confessed to have stolen one white Active scooter from Adnem, Quepem. 

Cuncolim Police station in-charge, PI Terance D’Costa said the accused disclosed that they committed theft upon the instruction of one more person, the Cuncolim police arrested the third person from the IDC.

The police later arrested a scrap dealer from Margao after it came to light that the stolen scooters were sold to him.
