Members of various Hindu groups on Thursday demanded a free and fair investigation into the anti-religious posts that were recently shared on social media.
Religious groups such as Rashtriya Yuva Hindu Vahini, Parshuram Sena, Vishwa Hindu Parishad have also demanded the arrest of another person from Margao for his alleged involvement in recently posting objectionable and derogatory images of religious figures with abusive words on social media.
Addressing a joint news conference, the groups condemned the recent anti-religious posts on social media by a Chicalim youth who was later arrested in that connection.
The groups alleged that another youth from Margao was also involved in the incident but despite a complaint by them, the youth was interrogated but not arrested.
While demanding a free and fair investigation in the matter without any political interference or pressure, the groups maintained that their representatives would, henceforth, keep a close watch on such anti-religious posts on social media and would report such anti-religious posts on social media to the police for stringent action.
