An outing ended in tragedy for a youth from PDA Colony in Old Goa, when he drowned at the Arvalem waterfall on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, Bhalchandra Patil (24) and three friends had gone to the Arvalem waterfall and the deceased went for a swim but began to struggle in the water. The friends then raised an alarm.
On receiving information, a fire brigade from the Bicholim fire station led by officer Shripad Gawas went to the site and retrieved the body after a two-hour search operation.
The body was later handed over to Bicholim police. Bicholim PSI Prajit Mandrekar is investigating the case under the guidance of Police Inspector Sanjay Dalvi.
