Cuncolim woman duped of Rs 2 lakh by fake Delhi Police, Google Chrome officials

Unknown accused persons, impersonating as officials of Delhi police and representatives of Google chrome, cheated a resident of Cuncolim to the tune of Rs 2 lakh through online transactions.

In her complaint, Supriya Dessai, a resident of Culwaddo-Cuncolim stated that on April 22, 2026, at around 10:24 hrs, at Cuncolim, unknown accused persons, by impersonating themselves, as officials of Delhi Police and representatives of Google Chrome, criminally intimidated her by falsely threatening that an FIR and arrest warrant would be issued against her unless the demanded amount was paid.

Believing the representations to be genuine and acting under fear and inducement created by the accused persons, the victim transferred an amount of Rs 2 lakh, through various online transactions to different bank accounts and UPI IDs provided by the accused persons.

The police have charged the accused for cheating the complainant and caused wrongful loss to her and corresponding wrongful gain to themselves.

A case under section 318(4), 319(2) of BNS stands registered against the accused.
