Cuncolkars on Friday sent a message loud and clear that they will rally behind a woman, who has feared of being disposed of the house in which she has been staying for the last 50 years.
In fact, Retired Superintendent of police, Sammy Tavares has warned the property buyer from Uttar Pradesh that Cuncolkars will not remain silent spectators if any attempt is being made to deploy bouncers to threaten the woman to vacate the premises.
In fact, residents of Cuncolim rallied behind Ratija Desai, a resident of Sanvorcotto after reports spread that a native of Uttar Pradesh has purchase a property in the area and has drawn up plans to evict the occupant.
The residents maintained that they have no objection to the buyer of the property at Sanvorcott, but warned of serious consequences if any attempt is made to forcibly evict Ratija and her family members from the house. “We all know that the family of Ratija Desai has been staying in the house in question for the last 40-50 years. Any attempt to vacate the occupants forcibly or through coercion will be resisted by the local residents”, Sammy warned.
BJP leader Maruti Desai said the people have no objection if the property is sold by the original owner or the same is bought by a native of Uttar Pradesh. “We have all come here to convey a warning that people will not sit quite if any attempt is made to disposes the family from the house”, he warned.
