Curchorem Cacora Municipal Councillor Balkrishna Hodarkar has appealed to the police to conduct a free and fair investigation in the recent shooting incident at Bansai-Curchorem and to arrest the accused at the earliest.
Addressing a news conference in Curchorem, Hordarkar urged the police not to fall prey to any pressure tactics but give justice to the family of the labourer who was killed in the shooting incident.
Claiming that law and order situation is getting affected in the State in the recent times, Hodarkar requested Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, who is also the Law Minister, to intervene in the matter and interact with police officials to find out ways to arrest the accused.
“Today it is a labourer, tomorrow it can be one of us,” claimed Hodarkar, while demanding the need to expedite the investigation process as there are fears that this case may also be closed just like many other cases allegedly due to political interference.
Speaking further, Hodarkar expressed the need to find out ways and means to regularise the sand extraction business in the State.
“Many families in Curchorem and other areas are solely dependent on sand extraction business and if it is closed, these families just like the truck owners will face extreme difficulties in their day to day living,” he said.
