A 21-year-old youth from Curchorem, Omkar Lagve, died while undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim on Thursday morning, days after he was reportedly found injured on a railway track at Curchorem.
According to Vasco Railway Police, a wireless message was received from the casualty police at GMC Bambolim on September 18 at around 8.30 am, informing that Lagve, a resident of Devtawado, Curchorem, had expired while undergoing treatment.
Police said Lagve had been referred to GMC Bambolim from SGDH Margao on September 11 after being admitted as a case of being hit by a train on the railway track at Curchorem.
Following the death, Vasco Railway Police conducted an inquest panchanama over the body, which was subsequently referred for post-mortem examination at GMC Bambolim.
After completion of the post-mortem examination and other formalities, the body was handed over to the family members for the final religious rites.
Vasco Railway Police Station has registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Krishna Talpi of Vasco Railway Police Station under the supervision of PI Amarnath Passi and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
