The State government has now allowed religious places and gyms to open with certain restrictions even as the ongoing Covid-related state-wide curfew has been extended by another week, up to July 19.
In the fresh round of relaxations, religious places have been permitted to reopen with 15 persons while gyms have been allowed to reopen with 50 percent capacity. Sports complexes have also been allowed to open but without spectators.
“The State level curfew will be extended up to 7 am of July 19 with further relaxations that will allow the opening of gyms with 50% capacity, sports complex without spectators, religious places with up to 15 persons,” Chief Minister Pramod Sawant twitted on Sunday evening.
Both the North and South Goa district magistrates have issued orders extending the curfew with the new set of relaxations.
Prior to this, the State government had last week allowed the reopening of bars and restaurants with 50 percent capacity from 7 am to 9 pm as part of its phased unlock plan.
All shops were also permitted to remain open from 7 am to 6 pm while fish and vegetable markets have also been allowed to open.
However, the functioning of casinos, cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes and entertainment zones continue to remain prohibited.
The State government has also said that auditoriums, community halls or similar places will remain shut.
